Guiding Academy of Art to a 2-2 start to its 2021 fall season, freshman outside hitter Katherine Von Kraut was among the Pacific West Conference leaders in multiple offensive categories.

The Fashion Design major opened the campaign with 14 kills (a career-high at the time) and two blocks in ART U's 3-1 victory over Cal State East Bay on Sept. 2. One of three Urban Knights to record double-digit kills for the second straight contest, she then offered 10 kills plus three more blocks (also a career-high) as Academy of Art defeated Chico State 3-1 on Sept. 3 in the continuation of the NorCal Kickoff Tournament. The final day, Sept. 4, Von Kraut was absolutely on fire as she hit .500 en route to 14 kills against Cal State Monterey Bay then closed the week by setting a new career-high with 17 kills versus Stanislaus State.

On the week, Von Kraut offered a .308 hitting percentage (second in PacWest), 3.24 kills per set (fourth in PacWest), and 3.47 points per set (fifth in PacWest).
