Mobolade Ajomale closed the book on the final indoor track & field season of his collegiate career as a champion once more. At the 2019 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships on
Mar. 9, Ajomale not only earned All-American honors in each of the three events in which he competed, but he also won the 200m title for the third consecutive year.
After running a season-best 6.64 in the
prelim the day prior, the Richmond Hill, Canada native went 6.65 for second overall in the 60m finals, conceding the 60m crown to Tiffin's Jonte Baker (6.62). Some two hours later, Ajomale successfully defended his 200m championship with a 20.88, tying Adams State's Sydney Gidabuday for the NCAA DII man with the most individual indoor titles in a career (six).
In his final event of his career, Ajomale joined teammates Christian Carter, Roshard Williams, and Grant Swinton for the 4x400m relay. Third behind Texas A&M-Commerce's facility record 3:08.34 and St. Augustine's (3:08.39), ART U dropped another program record, going 3:10.02 for overall.
Ajomale now heads into the outdoor season as a nine-time national champion and 17-time All-American over the course of his Academy of Art career.
