Sophomore goalkeeper Morgan Wirz was selected as one of this week’s Urban Knights of the Week following her impressive performance in front of the net during women’s soccer’s opening weekend.
 
On Friday, the Urban Knights took on Simon Fraser in their 2016 debut. Wirz matched her career-high with nine saves in the game while playing 64 minutes. This matched her previous high which was recorded on September 26, 2015 when she shut out Hawaii Pacific.
 
On Sunday, the graphic design major posted a new career high when ART U traveled to No. 3 Western Washington. The Vikings managed 37 shots (18 on goal), but Wirz managed to snag 11 saves during her 55 minutes of work, before being relieved by junior goalkeeper Maggie Alikpala-Wilson.
 
Although just two games into the regular season, Wirz has put together 20 saves which leads the PacWest by a significant margin.
