Sophomore pitcher Brenna Mitchell was a defensive stalwart for the Urban Knights in their first week of action in 2016. She appeared in all four games, had one win, and posted a 2.52 earned run average through 16.2 innings pitched with six strikeouts.

Mitchell picked up ART U softball's first win of the year after throwing a complete 7.0 innings with just a single earned run allowed on five hits versus Chico State on Feb. 6. In her Feb. 4 debut, the Fairfield, Calif. native allowed just one run on five hits with four strikeouts against No. 13 Humboldt State then proceeded to throw 1.2 scoreless relief innings in the second contest and was the final pitcher in the circle as the game was called a tie.
