Reigning PacWest Freshman of the Year Alex Carmon came to play in his sophomore campaign and out of the gate has shown that his first go-round was no fluke. In the first two games of the season for the Academy of Art men's basketball team, Carmon has averaged 25 points, dropping a career-high 31 points in the season opener against Cal State East Bay and then another 19 points in Sunday's matchup with Humboldt State.
Carmon flirted with a triple-double against the Pioneers, as he had eight rebounds and eight assists, while also making 10 of 11 from the free-throw line. He got his first double-double of the year against the Lumberjacks, pulling down 11 rebounds. Over the two games, Carmon has shot over 50% from the floor (.514) and over 90% from the line (.923). With his 50 points to start the year, he also jumped into ninth place all-time on the ART U career scoring leaderboard with 421 points, right behind Weleh Dennis (429) for eighth place.
