Senior forward Katy Wade was absolutely dominant inside during the Urban Knights' Thanksgiving holiday tournament in Nampa, Idaho. In Academy of Art University's 73-64 victory over Central Washington, the finale of Northwest Nazarene's Fairfield Inn Classic, Wade not only posted a double-double (18 points, 15 rebounds), but she also registered five steals and a new program-record six blocked shots. The Portland, OR native was key during ART U's 17-4 run to close out the win. Wade also scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds versus host NNU the night before.
Wade earned a PacWest Weekly Fantastic 15 honor for her efforts, averaging 15.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 3.5 blocked shots (1st in PacWest) per game for the week. In just six games played, Wade has rised to 5th overall in ART U's single-season rankings for blocked shots with 16 on the year. Compared to the conference, she now ranks third overall in blocks per game (2.7 bpg) and fourth in rebounding (9.5 rpg).
"I put some pressure on Katy because I know she can be a dominant player at this level and know how talented she is," Coach Larson said. "She came through big time for us tonight. I'm proud of how she responded."
