Saving multiple of the best performances of her career for the Franson Last Chance, Academy of Art track & field's Lina Hanich walked away with an individual program record in the 800m, a personal record in the 400m, and contributed to ART U's new all-time record in the 4x400m relay.
In easily the fastest 800m heat of the day on
May 10, Hanich challenged multiple professional athletes as well as a pair from the Pacific West Conference and the result was an improvement of nearly two full seconds from her previous outdoor best at 2:06.62. The mark, her fastest in both the indoor and outdoor version of the event, pushed Hanich into the top spot on the ART U all-time list by more than a full second, fourth of 61 in Friday's event, and made her one of just four NCAA Division II Outdoor Nationals provisional runners to go sub 2:07.00 this year.
After delivering another Outdoor Nationals provisional mark of 55.78 in the 400m on
May 11, Hanich concluded in the 4x400m relay with Toni-Ann Lindsay, Juvonna Cornette, and Lauryn James, taking first place of eight teams on the day, and in so doing, posting a final time of 3:38.36 to break the ART U record previously set in 2016. Saturday's effort was more than a second and a half faster than the mark which made the last Academy of Art quartet
All-Americans at Outdoor Nationals and took the squad to fourth in the country as provisional qualifiers for the postseason.
