A memorable weekend in Michigan came for Academy of Art track & field's Lauryn James who ran her fastest marks of the season in both the 60m and 200m dashes, elevating herself among the nation's top tier at the GVSU Big Meet.

First on Feb. 9, James placed first of 27 competitors in the 200m dash with a new best of 24.13 which would have her not only fifth in ART U history by the end of the week, but also eighth in NCAA Division II as a provisional qualifier to Indoor Nationals. It was her fifth time running under the event's provisional standard this season. James then finished second only to teammate Juvonna Cornette in the 60m dash on Feb. 10, crossing the line at 7.48 and entering into a tie for 15th in the country. The Animation & Visual Effects major became just the fourth Urban Knight to date to run sub-7.50 in the event.
